Is It Really True That ‘Some Things Will Never Change’?

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think!” — Albert Einstein

If you've struggled to make changes to your eating habits, then chances are that you believe there are parts of yourself that cannot be changed.

In psychology, this is what's known as having a "fixed mindset".

Maybe you've said things to yourself like...

"I'm a stress eater."

"I have a sweet tooth."

"I have no willpower." "I'm a terrible cook."

And if so, you might think those things are just part of who you are...

Which is the case for many Fed Up Dieters.

And holding on to these limiting beliefs about who you are and your ability to change is likely one of the biggest reasons that you still haven't reached your healthy living goals.

But the cool part about beliefs is that they are just BELIEFS, not FACTS.

And beliefs can be challenged, and changed, over time.

Case in point, I'm pretty sure you don't still believe that Santa Claus is real, right?

Even though you USED TO believe that he was.

So,

Since we already know that you CAN change your beliefs...

Maybe it's time to experiment with changing the beliefs you have about YOURSELF...?

In my Empowered Eating Blueprint program there are 3 Key Categories of Skills that Fed Up Dieters develop in order to transform into Empowered Eaters.

One of those categories of skills are THINKING skills.

Being able to shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset (where you believe that abilities and traits can be developed and improved upon with effort) is just one type of thinking skill.

Here's a little challenge for you to try out this week in order to develop your THINKING skills...

The next time you catch yourself having a fixed mindset about a specific characteristic or personality trait,

👉 Re-phrase that statement in the past tense.

Instead of "I'm a stress eater",

Try out, "I USED TO be a stress eater".

Or

"I USED TO have a sweet tooth."

"I USED TO have no willpower." "I USED TO be a terrible cook."

Say the past tense sentence out loud and listen closely for what comes up in your internal dialogue.

What emotions do you feel?

What thoughts do you have?

And then,

Imagine yourself 1 year from now, having a conversation with someone else and telling them that same statement.

What steps did you take to get to that new reality?

How does your life look differently in that future vision?

Sit with that future vision for a moment.

Do you believe you can get there?

If so, congrats! You're on your way to developing a growth mindset which is essential for building sustainable healthy eating habits and ending the cycle of yo-yo dieting for good.

Still not convinced?

👉 Then get on the waitlist to be notified the next time enrollment for the Empowered Eating Blueprint opens, so that you can get the support you need to create that shift.
