How to Stop Overcomplicating Health and Fitness

"You have to stop the insanity of diets." — Susan Powter

Where my fellow 90's kids at? 👀 I don't know about you, but when I hear the phrase "Stop the Insanity", I immediately think of Susan Powter. And if you have no idea who I'm talking about, Susan Powter is a motivational speaker who rose to fame in the 90's thanks to her "Stop the Insanity" infomercial. She promotes eating (organic) whole-foods, a low fat intake, and regular exercise. Now I'm not totally in alignment with ALL of what she preaches...and definitely not with her style of delivery, BUT there is one thing that we both agree on...

The diet industry loves to complicates things that don't need to be complicated.

Pick any popular diet book and there will be another one with a completely opposing view.

One "expert" will try to convince you that meat causes cancer and therefore you should eat nothing but plants,

While another will insist that meat needs to be the majority of your diet and you should cut out plants entirely.

🤔

Even as someone with a solid understanding of nutrition, I have to admit...

It can get pretty confusing, overwhelming and downright annoying.

But the truth is, healthy living doesn't need to be complicated. You DON'T need to "hack" or "optimize" anything. You DO need to stop wasting time, energy and money on chasing "magic solutions".

I can assure you, your road to health and longevity isn't drinking mushroom tea, freezing your fat cells or sitting in an infrared sauna...

👉 It's just doing the basic, most obvious stuff on repeat. Not for a month, or a year.

But from now until the day you die. 💀

The basic principles are not that sexy, but they work. 🥙 Eat the right amount for your goals ⛹️‍♀️ Be physically active 😴 Get sufficient quality sleep 🧘 Learn how to manage stress 👭 Develop quality relationships But when you continue to believe that "it MUST be more complicated than that",

👉 You will find yourself hopping from trend to trend thanks to good 'ol analysis paralysis.

And you'll end up with: Cabinets full of unopened supplements

  • Shelves full of unread diet books

  • A basement full of unused exercise equipment

  • And no real progress to speak of

All because you continue to believe that there's some secret solution out there that you still haven't found yet. And so you keep SEARCHING... But I'm sure you've heard what it means to keep doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result, right...?

So, STOP THE INSANITY!

✅ Eat your vegetables.

✅ Move your body.

✅ Go the F*CK to sleep.

✅ Chill out.

✅ Find your tribe.

It really doesn't need to be more complicated than that.
