Are You Waiting to Be Happy?

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

Over the weekend I went to Target.

Nothing special, just an everyday errand.

But I decided to wear a dress because...why not?

You see, even though I've spent the majority of the past 15 years living in glorified pajamas, I really enjoy "dressing".

I like doing my hair and putting on makeup.

I like wearing a dress.

But I used to reserve those things for "special occasions" like going out with friends or a holiday dinner with my family.

During a recent coaching call a client was telling me about this fancy stationary she's had for awhile but never used because she was "saving it" for something special.

And it reminded me of how often I would do the same kind of thing.

I would save my fun serving platters for when we had guests over, my expensive perfume for a date night and my dresses for "special occasions".

Because underneath the habit of "saving" this stuff for future events was a belief that my life right now wasn't good enough, it wasn't deserving enough, of those special things.

And for my client the feeling was the same.

Just as it is for many of the women that I work with.

A feeling of waiting.

Hiding.

Depriving.

Withholding.

Until they are worthy enough for _____.

They say to themselves, once I lose weight THEN

...I'll start dating

...I'll join a gym

...I'll wear a bikini

...I'll go on vacation

...I'll be happy

But if you hold onto that belief that you or your circumstances need to be "X" before you can "Y"...

👉 You will keep waiting, hiding and withholding.

Because you will never feel like you're "good enough".

And things will never be "perfect".

If you wait until you are thin / smart / rich / successful enough BEFORE you allow yourself to fully live your life...

You will continue to withhold your own happiness until some imaginary day that may never come.

Stop waiting.

You are enough.

Your life is enough.

You are deserving of joy, happiness, love, passion, pride, frivolity, fun, adventure.

Right now.

Not tomorrow.

Not 20lbs from now.

Not after you get a new job.

Today. In this very moment. In this body.

You are worthy of all of it.

So use the fancy stationary and wear the dress to Target.

And stop waiting to let yourself be happy.

So if you are ready to start living the life you deserve, book in a call HERE.
