"You are free to challenge yourself while also being gentle with yourself." —Morgan Harper Nichols
I don't know about you, but my inbox and social media feeds have been FLOODED with messages about resolutions, goal setting and basically becoming an entirely different person in 2022.
🙄
Listen,
I LOVE setting goals.
I LOVE the willingness to go outside of your comfort zone.
I LOVE the desire to grow and change.
But I ALSO love,
Patience.
Self-compassion.
Personal autonomy.
And, unfortunately, those tend to take a back seat to the "Lose 7lbs in 7 days" and "New Year, New You" headlines.
So I'm coming in here to remind you that:
👉 Change, if you want it to happen, can happen at your own pace.
And that you don't need to do a complete overhaul of your life for those changes to have a significant impact on your life.
✔ Getting just 30 minutes more of physical activity each week will have a significant impact on your energy levels.
✔ Eating just 1 more serving of vegetables a day will have a significant impact on your appetite regulation.
✔ Taking just 10 minutes a day to sit quietly, away from devices, will have a significant impact on your mood.
Every. Little. Bit. Counts.
So, if you are feeling the pressure to CHANGE that normally comes along with the New Year,
Take a breath.
You don't have to do anything if you don't want to.
And if you don't want to, that's totally ok.
But if you DO want to do something,
YOU get to decide what that something is.
And there is no change that is too small to be worthwhile.
Because,
“The (wo)man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” — Confucius
